Preheater Cyclone Modification and Main Components
Preheater Cyclone Modification and Main Components
Reduction in pressure drop of the gas
is partly achieved by large inlet area and outlet area for a given cyclone size
and partly by providing more space for the gas flow in the top part of the
cyclone.
Due to this geometry the inner pipes
can be shorter to decrease the resistance in the system and in the same time
still the separation efficiency of the cyclone will achieve the needed rate.
Pressure drop will be between 5 to 15
mbar depending on dimension of the cyclone and on its type but modern preheater
are designed with total pressure- drop
of 35 m bar through out the total preheater.
-
Preheater string consists of
four or five or six cyclones called stages and these cyclones are a reversed flow cyclones with
a vertical axes
As a rule
the higher the number of preheater stages, the lower will be the drying
capacity of this modern kiln system -with cyclone preheater and Precalciner.
-
Each of these cyclones is mounted
on the other and forming what is called preheater string with total height of
preheater ranging from 60 to 110 m.
-
Preheater can be made of one
string for production of not more than 6000 tpd clinker and two strings up to
10000 ton of clinker/day or more.
-
Each stage in single string
preheater is made of single cyclone except for upper most cyclones it is mostly
made of twin cyclones for better heat exchange and separation efficiency.
-
A basic preheater consists of:
Cyclone vessels, material pipe (hot
meal pipes), gas ducts (riser ducts), expansion joint, flap gates, splash
plates and inner pipes.
-
Temperature and pressure
gradient in 5 stages preheater are as follow
